We decided to use two characters as when researching opening tittle sequences, we found that those with minimal characters were most effective and ended up being our favourite sequences. We also looked closely at last years thrillers. We realised from these also the new that stood out were definitely the ones with one or two characters. Some of these were:

Narrative Action List

After various group discussions, we have all agreed on a final idea for our thriller. Here is a narrative action list explaining exactly what happens.

1. Begin with two Establishing shots of picturesque forest, over the top we hear the sound of someone running
2. The boy (Boy 1) then enters the frame
3. The camera follows him as he runs through the forest almost as if he is being chased.
4. His expression is distraught, and filled with panic
5. intense music begins to grow, along with siren sounds
6. As we see his expression more clearly as he is running, a flash back cuts in
7. It shows another boy (Boy 2) laughing at Boy 1.
8. Cut back to Boy 1 running, are now begin to realise he is running away.
9. He stubbles as he tires and begins to break down
10. Another flashback; shows boy 1 pushing down boy 2
11. Cut back He is now crying, and clearly scared and angry
12. He hits his own head, as if to get the thoughts out of his mind as we cut to another flashback
13. The music reaches a peak as we see boy 1 swing a log towards boy 2
14. Music and sirens reaches a peak
15. Echoed screaming from boy 2 can also be heard
16. On impact the camera cuts out

First thoughts on Set? or Location?

We have decided to go for a location to give the feeling of a natural environment compared to filming in a studio. Our chosen location is a forests for our opening title sequence because we want to create a sense of isolation to be portrayed to the audience, this is because of the narrative of the actual film, this wont take long to find the perfect location as we are surrounded by forest in the surrey hills.






This is the the ideal location for the opening title sequence because it is natural forest that the audience can imagine being in.

The picture is a forest studio which doesn't look quite as natural as an actual forest and natural is what we want which helps us clearly identify easily that the location is the right way to go.

Character list and description

After we had finished making our storyboard we understood how characters should look like.

In this scene we need only two people:

• The main character: Harry, who is running through the forest;
• The Supporting character: Gabe, who is shown in the flashback scenes.

We decided that our main character should be about 17-18 years old (A2 student). Tall and sporty so that he could run without any problem for a whole day.

As another character would be only in small scenes it is not so important to have him with particular physical characteristics. The only important thing is that we want the characters to look like they are both same age.

Main male: Male, 18, white, average height/weight

Second male: Male, 17/18, white, average height/weight.
