Camera Lesson

In this lesson we experienced using a camera for the first time, the camera's we were using were Sony NX 5's. Firstly we learnt how to set up the camera and the tripod and how to slide and clip the camera into place. We next  looked at how to clip the camera in place to avoid damaging it as well as bubbling it in order to make sure our camera was level and that we would get a level image on the camera. Then looked at the different parts of the camera, such as zoom, lens, brightness, and white balance. After looking at the buttons we learned how to use the lever and tilt /pan the camera smoothly.  Finally we delved further into white balance stumbling across zebras simultaneously. Zebras appear to show the light areas in a frame and help us to judge the brightness off a shot. Learning more about white balance was really interesting and we practiced using reflectors in order to get a good white balance. To achieve this we had  to zoom really far in on something in the frame, focus it, zoom back out, and then zoom in on the white reflector press white balance and then the camera adjusted.
